How to Be a Functional Group
- Spend a lot of time making good questions. Well-phrased questions will make research easier. When questions are hard to research, people give up, get off task, distract each other, etc.
- Check each other's Breach Resolvers. Leave written feedback in the margins or on post-its. For digital work, leave comments on the actual file.
- Keep a work plan and talk about it. At the beginning and end of class, meet quickly to make sure everyone's keeping up with due dates. Keep track of when you'll all be there to do the lab and who's bringing any supplies you need.
- Use the team goal tracker to help check-in on your goals.

- Use a sharing tool Definitely do this for lab reports. If you do your breach notes and resolutions digitally, consider sharing them with each other to get feedback before they're due.
- Plan your synthesis papers: You are allowed to bring one sheet of paper with you to write your synthesis paper. Here are some suggestions:
- An outline with the main ideas that will go into each paragraph
- A concept map or "Tree of Knowledge", if you're a visual person
- A short draft. Maybe write some sentences that you'll want to use (like introductory and concluding sentences)
